AVANCIS – once a pioneer, always a pioneer Milestones in our corporate development
Symbolic start of production at the 100 MW factory in Ochang, South Korea.
First-module-out at the biggest CIGS plant in China ( Bengbu) with a planned production capacity up to 1.5 GW p.a.
Avancis heads the "MyCIGS" research network, consisting of the University of Oldenburg, the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Photovoltaic Competence Center (PVcomB) of the Helmholtz Center Berlin, with the aim of improving yield-relevant parameters of CIGS modules for the installation in façades.
The partnership is a joint solar façade element on basis of the PowerMax® SKALA in combination with glass fiber concrete for solar façades as a new design alternative for architects.
With the efficiency of 17.9% of its latest champion module, AVANCIS reaches the current efficiency world record for encapsulated CIGS thin-film modules. This record value was achieved with a Cd-free encapsulated module showing an aperture area of 622 cm2 and it has been certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE).
CNBM plans a mega solar plant with a total capacity of 1.5 GW p.a. This was followed by the groundbreaking ceremony for the first stage of construction and the fourth AVANCIS plant with a production capacity of 300 MW per annum.
The frameless module PowerMax® is granted the general technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung, abZ) as the first laminated glass module with affixed backrails.
AVANCIS achieved a new world efficiency record of 16.6% for encapsulated thin-film modules on a 30 x 30 cm² Cd-free CIS solar module.
The Chinese National Building Materials Group Corporation (CNBM) takes over all company shares of AVANCIS. As from July 1st 2014, Avancis is a 100% owned subsidiary of CNBM, one of the largest building materials and glass group worldwide.
As from 27 February 2013, Avancis GmbH & Co. KG is now operating under the name of AVANCIS GmbH.
