Feed-in tariff, KfW loans, tax concessions: assistance schemes for photovoltaic systems

Investing in an AVANCIS photovoltaic system with PowerMax® solar modules is a smart move on two levels: not only will you be investing in a high-quality product with a long performance warranty, but you will also be acquiring a capital asset supported by government assistance schemes, which will produce CO2-neutral power on a long-term basis.

20 years of reliable yields thanks to feed-in tariffs as stipulated by the EEG

As a solar energy producer you are guaranteed ongoing earnings. The German Act Granting Priority to Renewable Energy Sources (EEG) stipulates that you will receive a fixed payment for 20 years – the exact amount will depend on the year in which your system was put into operation and also on its size. In other words, the earlier you start, the higher the feed-in tariff per kilowatt hour (kWh).

Useful to know: the feed-in tariff guaranteed by the government is currently much higher than the cost of an average kilowatt hour of electricity – which makes a photovoltaic system definitely worthwhile. Incidentally, small roof installations for detached houses and apartment buildings receive more financial assistance than large industrial installations.

Banks support financing of photovoltaics with loans

To finance your photovoltaic system, you can take advantage of diverse methods of financing offered by banks. In Germany, regional and nationwide assistance is also available in the form of special schemes from banks or building societies. Your own bank can also offer you the opportunity to take advantage of special schemes, such as that of the KfW (German Development Bank), for financing solar power systems.

Tax concessions with photovoltaic systems

When you install a photovoltaic system, not only do you produce your own, sustainable solar power, you also become a producer and can therefore profit from various tax relief schemes. For example, in Germany, if you waive the right to be considered a small business, the full VAT for your photovoltaic system is reimbursed to you via input tax deduction, which significantly cuts acquisition costs. Your tax adviser will be happy to explain to you your personal tax structuring options.
