Intersolar Europe 2012: AVANCIS introduces PowerMax® SMART.

Torgau, Germany, June 2012 - AVANCIS, leading manufacturer of CIS solar modules, will present its new product line "PowerMax® SMART – The intelligent rail line“ to the general public from 13th June – 15th June 2012 at the Intersolar Europe in Munich. Be there and visit the module manufacturer in Hall A2, booth 390.

At this years branches summit in Munich, AVANCIS will present it’s new product line: The new PowerMax® SMART modules were specifically developed for use in large commercial rooftop systems and open spaces. However, due to their unique mounting profile and their aesthetically attractive design, they are also suitable for smaller rooftop systems. With its new product line Avancis has created an all-round module which builds on the established PowerMax® STRONG product range. This most recent product line from the German CIS solar module producer is however significantly lighter than the existing, framed sister line PowerMax® STRONG.

PowerMax® SMART are frameless CIS solar modules that use an intelligent mounting profile of two steel backrails allowing mounting with a clamp that is not attached to the glass of the modules. This allows the glass to be mounted almost seamlessly creating an aesthetically pleasing look. The backrails on the light PowerMax® SMART modules allow maximum mechanical loads, making these modules not only ideal for maximum snow load zones but equally suitable for use with extremely low inclinations. Angles of less than 5 percent are no problem, snow simply slides off and the self-cleaning effect is ensured. Furthermore the back ventilation and cooling of the frameless modules continually optimises the original high energy yield.

Avancis has built its own new factory for the production of the new product line. This second factory of the German manufacturer started in December 2011 and has an annual production capacity of 100 MWp. The new production line is currently being ramped up and the new products being certified by TÜV in accordance with the relevant guidelines (IEC and UL).

At its booth AVANCIS will also exhibit it’s proven product line PowerMax ® STRONG. This trusted product line has been designed as robust, framed CIS-solar modules especially for use in rooftop systems. However, they can also be used for open space systems or façade solutions. PowerMax® STRONG modules are attached in a secure and stable manner using a black anodised aluminium hollow-chamber frame with a mounting lip. Thanks to the stable frame, the modules are suitable for maximum snow load zones up to 551 kilograms per square metre. They are also resistant to ammonia and salt mist and are therefore ideal for use in the agricultural sector and in coastal areas. PowerMax® STRONG is one of the top performing thin-film modules on the entire photovoltaics market.

Be there and visit AVANCIS in Hall A2, booth 390: Numerous contacts from the various divisions are available throughout the show to answer questions about the company and its products at your disposal.

About AVANCIS:

Avancis develops and produces photovoltaic modules based on CIS (copper indium selenide) technology. The innovative manufacturing process relies on the next generation CIS technology developed by the Avancis Research & Development department in Munich. The first two plants at the company’s headquarters in Torgau have an overall production capacity of 120 megawatt peak per year (MWp p.a.). The company is currently building a third factory of 100 MWp p.a. in South Korea as part of the 'Hyundai-AVANCIS' production joint venture.

Siemens, Shell and Saint-Gobain are some of the big names that helped cultivate the technology now available from Avancis while it was still in its infancy. The successes achieved in the field of photovoltaics are largely due to their efforts. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Saint-Gobain since autumn 2009, Avancis benefits from Saint-Gobain’s many years of expertise in glass coating and heat treatment, both core competencies of this leading global construction and automotive glass supplier.
