We have been carrying out successful, pioneering research into CIS technology since 1981. We were the first to start series production of CIS modules in Camarillo, California, and have since then broken numerous world records for efficiency. We hold many patents and have received countless awards for innovation. Furthermore, our pilot line in Munich is continuously enhancing the efficiency and environmental performance of our CIS solar modules.
These successes are what lies behind our claim to be the "avant-garde of photovoltaics", a claim which is based not only on maintaining our technological leadership, but also on providing people with a sophisticated, premium-quality and extremely cost-effective product – a photovoltaic system that is highly impressive in terms of both performance and design.
The future of photovoltaics lies in the combination of sound technical knowledge and corporate responsibility. Our specialists, recruited from all over the globe, aren't just the best in their field, they are also the people who put into practice a key AVANCIS principle: to do things in a way that meets the expectations of even the most exacting customers – both now and in the future.
As a leading manufacturer of CIS photovoltaics, this means we only research materials that can be used in practice. This approach has proven successful time after time, as demonstrated by our world records for CIS solar modules suitable for series production. And as if that weren't enough in itself, the environment and the development of a particularly sustainable and high-quality product also play a central role in our day-to-day research.
The pilot line of our Munich research department offers an excellent basis for further developing CIS technology. Our CIS solar modules today can match the performance of crystalline silicon solar cells, yet require much less material to manufacture. And we are working on outperforming crystalline silicon cells soon.
